- Examine mentor posters. Can we quote our favorite movie on our poster? So can we therefore include our favorite movie quotes in our essay?

- Clippage: Monomyth (seven minute video using elements of The Matrix, Star Wars, and Harry Potter).
- Honors - discuss reading from the weekend, Standard - review bullet point summary at the end of paired reading
- Small Groups: Share HW and HW Check
- A few individuals present HW to class
- Review monomyth essay assignment and school-wide rubric.
- Begin work on essay/project

- Work on monomyth essay and rubric.

- RI.9-10.2 Determine a central idea of a text.
- RI.9-10.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text.

- Hand back HW and review Word of the Day
- Do Now: Read a section from yesterday's Paired Readings packet and note main ideas and difficult vocabulary words. Briefly review.
- SAT Session 1: Vocabulary Sentence Completion.
- Guided Practice: PSAT Preparation Book, p. 254, #1-8. Review.
- Outside Reading
