- Each group should then apply the theory to one of the characters they followed through Act 4 (using the character committee handout)

- While Ms. Stevens talks about self-reliance, take five students in the hallway to be influentials.
- Tell them that their goal is to be persuasive, to use rhetoric to convince their group what is the most important object they need to be self-reliant.

- Report out with large group and discuss - who was the most influential? How does this reflect Transcendentalism? (answers: simplicity, convincing argument, alone with nature, etc.)
